November Book Review

Happy Monday, friends! I hope that you all had a safe and amazing Thanksgiving break!

Today is BOOK REVIEW DAY! WOOHOO!!!

I was slow getting started on the book reading this month due to other work obligations, but once I got started . . . I COULD NOT STOP!

This month, I read four books. A couple new authors thrown in with some old favorites made this a GREAT month of reading. If you need a gift idea for Christmas . . . here are some amazing ideas.

Check it out . . .

Woman On The Edge by Samantha M. Bailey

This is Samantha M. Bailey’s debut novel. I had no idea what to expect, but based on the cover, I was already highly intrigued.

Woman On The Edge EASILY wins the BEST book that I read this month. So intriguing. So suspenseful. Let me say that the first few chapters gave me crazy anxiety because, as a mother, I was struggling with the subject matter. But, somewhere around chapter 6, I was hooked and COULD.NOT.STOP.

This book follows Morgan and Nicole. Strangers in a busy Chicago train station until Nicole hands her baby to Morgan, tells her to take care of her, then jumps. CRAZY! The book is told by both woman in an alternating fashion. So, Morgan will tell a chapter from what is happening now, and then the next chapter will be told by Nicole from six months ago. This book needs to be a movie. SO, SO good. Kept me flipping the pages, and I didn’t know what in the world was happening until the very end. One of the best suspenseful books that I have read this year!

Regretting You by Colleen Hoover

Oh, this book! Y’all!

Earlier this year, I read It Ends With Us, and really enjoyed the book. Chick lit with a bit more depth than normal. I loved that formula. Regretting You has been sitting on my desk for a while now, so I was excited to jump in. And, friends . . . this did not disappoint.

Regretting You follows Morgan and her sixteen-year-old daughter Clara. After Morgan’s husband (and Clara’s father), Chris, is killed in a tragic car accident, they have to learn to live a new life. A life filled with newly found secrets and heartbreak.

This book tugs at the heart strings, and really puts you in the shoes of Morgan. What would you do if the life you thought you were living was a lie? Really interesting concept, and I just loved it. LOVED IT!

The Last Flight by Julie Clark

Last year, one of my Top Three Books of 2019 was The Banker’s Wife by Christina Alger. Amazing. Go read my review, and then go read the book. You will thank me. Her writing is amazing, and if she tells me to read something, then I am on it! I recently asked her to recommend her favorite suspenseful book! Besides her own, of course. She let me know that The Last Flight was a must read, and I Amazon’d this bad boy as quickly as possible.

The Last Flight follows Claire and Eva, two woman desperate to escape their current lives. A chance meeting at the airport, an exchange of place tickets, and then they are gone. They both believe that this move will be the change that they need, but will their past continue to haunt them?

This book deals with politics, powerful families, drug dealers, foster care . . . so many things. You will root for these women, and will love this book. So glad Christina recommended this to me.

Dating You/Hating You by Christina Lauren

I really wanted to end the month with a slam dunk, so I went back to the well, and grabbed a Christina Lauren book. Yes, the girl will get the guy. Yes, it is a bit on the rated R side. Yes, there will be drama and cheesiness. But, I am always here for a great Christina Lauren book.

Dating You/Hating You did not disappoint. This book follow Evie and Carter through the world of talent agency craziness in Los Angeles. They are both talent agents suddenly finding themselves fighting for the same role in a newly merged agency.

LOVE the main characters! LOVE. I want to be their friends, and hang out with them in LA. The cast of supporting characters is great. There was a little too much workplace drama for me on this one than I would have wanted, but was still super cute. Easy, cheesy, makes me smile. The perfect chick-lit book to be reading over Thanksgiving break!

That’s it for this month’s book review! Let me know your recommendations! I always love to hear from you! XO
